Due to recent heavy rainfall and flooding east of Perth, the rail line from the East Coast to Perth has been closed, resulting in disruptions to freight movements into and out of Perth until further notice.
The impact of this disruption has necessitated that all freight previously travelling via rail must be moved via road, resulting in unavoidable delays to normal transit times for all freight and transport companies around the country.
CouriersPlease has recruited additional service providers to carry this freight, however, the re-routing of freight via the road network has resulted in a significant cost impost to transport freight and complete deliveries. Accordingly, we have been forced to invoke a temporary disaster levy that will be applied to all road freight travelling into Western Australia from Monday 18 March 2024 until the rail line is restored.
